Agora Palms (2023)
Three structural columns at the centre of a roller rink became its signature feature. Developed in close collaboration with the House of Skate design team, the columns were transformed into 12-foot illuminated trees that anchor the space visually while remaining fully functional.
The installation uses zero-load steel frames, concealed serviceable wiring, and thousands of addressable LEDs that respond live to DJ cues. Sculpted foam trunks protect skaters while diffusing light, creating a dynamic atmosphere without introducing hazards.
Designed in coordination with structural engineers and electricians, the project met fire codes, stayed on budget, and adapted to a shifting construction schedule—demonstrating how technical constraints, when addressed early, can drive strong, integrated design.
