Effigy for Freezer Burn 2018 - laser Sharks and Fighter Jets

Sometimes my art is made to burn. As the main focal point of 2018 Freezer Burn, a festival for the Alberta Burning Man community, my team and I built a 25 foot tall man, holding a laser shark in one hand and a fighter jet in the other. These were part of a larger pyrotechnics display which shot fireworks at each other and ultimately lit the entire structure on fire.  This effigy was built in Calgary, broken down for transportation, then re-assembled on site.  The burn was spectacular and safe; it collapsed into its own foot print in under 3 minutes. To add whimsy, the cut outs in the plywood structure were in the shapes of laser sharks and fighter jets. Pieces were also handed out to the crowd to increase audience participation.
